Gentile finished his eligibility at SDSU in 2007, when SDSU finished 7-4 and won their first conference title since 1963. Gentile sealed the Great West Football Conference (GWFC) title with a clutch interception in the season finale vs. North Dakota State. Gentile finished the season with 49 tackles and three interceptions. Gentile was named to the All-GWFC First Team.
In his first season as a starter for the Jackrabbits in 2006, Gentile led the team with three interceptions and ranked fifth with 48 tackles. He was named to the All-GWFC Second Team for his performance. During the season, Gentile tallied a career-high 10 tackles at Northern Iowa.
Gentile played in all eleven games in 2005 for SDSU. His top performance came against Southern Utah, in which he shared team Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording four tackles, including one for loss, and broke up two passes. Gentile was a four-year letter winner who joined the lineup as a true freshman.
