Marques (pronounced Mark-us) is entering his fifth season for the Storm and is now the Storm's all-time leading rusher. Smith has 1,830 career rushing yards and is coming off one of the best seasons for a Storm running back ever. Smith finished 2007 by posting the most rushing yards in a season in Storm history. Smith ran for 795 yards and led the league by scoring 32 rushing touchdowns, which is also a Storm single season record. The former Dakota Wesleyan standout finished second in the UIF in scoring and was named to the Western Conference All-Star team in 2007.

Smith also led the team in rushing in 2006 with 720. Smith added 14 touchdowns and was named the leagues Most Improved Player. Smith came onto the scene late in 2005 where he rushed for 11 TD's in just six regular season games. Marques continued his dominance in the playoffs by rushing for 6 TD's in just 3 playoff games during the 2005 run to the United Bowl Championship. Smith holds the UIF record for most touchdowns in one game as he scored six times during a 2005 game vs. Black Hills.
