Defensive back Andre Fields will be returning for his sixth season with the Storm. Fields ranks fifth on the Storms all-time interceptions list with 13. Since joining the team in 2003, Fields has started 86 out of 87 games.
In 2007, Fields started all 15 games and finished fourth on the team in tackles with 62. Fields added two interceptions and 12 pass break-ups during the regular season. Fields ability to shutdown opposing receivers made it impossible for quarterbacks to even throw in his direction. The Storm tied a team record in 2007 by allowing only 31 touchdown passes.
Fields was a key component to the Storm's defense in 2006 as well. He finished second on the team in interceptions with four and fourth on the team in tackles with 66. In 2005, Fields was named to the All-UIF First Team as he accounted for 73 tackles and three interceptions. Fields was also a part of 19 pass breakups during the season.
Fields, a standout player from the University of South Dakota, was named All-NIFL First Team in 2004 when he accumulated 42.5 tackles and three interceptions. Before joining the Storm in 2003, Fields spent the 2000 season in Sioux City with the Attack.
Storm President Colin Steen says Having Andre on the field is really like having a ninth man on defense. He completely shuts down the opposing receiver and takes away an entire side of the field for the opposing team.
